Anti-Zionist Hebrew graffiti, some thanking Hitler for the Holocaust and denouncing Zionism, was sprayed at Jerusalem's Yad Vashem Holocaust museum compound on Sunday.
A group of cold-blooded vandals desecrated a Holocaust memorial in Israel with anti-Semitic messages, included one that read "Hitler, thank you for the Holocaust," police said.
Police told The Jerusalem post that the spray-painted messages may have been the work of ultra-Orthodox Jews.
One scrawled message read "Haredi World Community," referring to an anti-Israel extremist group.
Haredi Jews regard Israel as evil, instead believing that the true Jewish state will be established after the Messiah arrives, Reuters reported.
Other messages said, "The Zionists wanted the Holocaust" and "The war of the Zionist regime is not the war of the Jewish people."
All of the messages were written in Hebrew, and police believed the hoodlums struck on Sunday night.
Avner Shalev, chairman of the Yad Vashem memorial, said he was "shocked and dazed by this callous expression of burning hatred against the Zionists and Zionism," Reuters reported.
Yad Vashem is Israel's official monument to the millions of Jews killed during the Holocaust, and was built on a hilltop in Jerusalem in 1953.
It is reportedly the second most visited tourist attraction in Israel, after the Western Wall.
